You sound very relaxed, which is good.

I'm hoping to see some nice full posts to round out the experience over the next couple of days, though!

Abby, when you're home, Spuddy and I will sing songs from outside the Top 40 to you at dinner, so you'll be able to tell right away the difference between being in New York and being in Waterville. And we can watch The Wire instead of Mad Men.

What perspective do you have on teaching after working with these LS students?
It seems that some of the Calhounigans have invited you into their lives. Is hanging out with them just about the same as Maumee Vallians?
See you soon,
Mrs. K

A few thoughts:

Hard to picture Meredith cooking. I spent 25 days in Thailand watching her avoid pretty much everything but white rice... go Meredith's lasagna! (and of course say hi for me).

Dora is one of Freud's notoriously bad cases -- he wasn't great with women. There's a bizzare novel loosely based on that case, The White Hotel by D.M.Thomas -- it's very surreal.

Is plopping poor, non-white kids down in Westchester county any different than doing the same thing at Miami University (notoriously un-diverse)? Maumee Valley? What kind of support to people need to succeed?

One of the problems with busing (public school integration) historically was that it moved poor black kids into schools with poor white kids -- and no one got the advantages of the wealthy suburban schools. It seems like the Westchester plan tries to address that.
